I had plans of doing a year recap, before the new year, but the holidays and family fellowship prevented it. Priorities-people first and then my mindless dribble with what every time is left. ;-)
We had planned to start the house in the summer 2015, but thanks to a reaaaalllly slow appraiser, Senior Anal Sphincter and a few other little hitches that didn't happen. However, once the excavation crew got the "OK," they didn't let any grass grow under their feet. They got the construction pad cut, septic put in, cisterns moved and put in, and footers dug, gravel in footers and compacted in a little over two weeks. Really great job.
That made it possible for the back concrete panels to be
installed. These were prefabbed and came out of North Carolina. No one
local does this type of work. The rep from the company came to see if
everything was ready and a new problem popped up.

One Lane Bridge Leading To Our Property |
They couldn't take
the truck, with all the panels on it, across the bridge that leads up to our property. Don't you think the bridge could handle it?;-) I know it has handled dump trucks full of gravel, but the bridge was a no go. Really wish the architect had mentioned this when he visited the site.
We told the rep that there was another road to the property but that we didn't think it would work because of hair pin turns, steep grades, and different road types of road coverage (gravel). That is what passes for a state maintained road in our state. ;-) He assured us that the long way around would surely work. They had been in a lot of rural areas with rough roads and didn't think it would be a problem. We told him that he was welcome to drive it and see if it would work. Unfortunately, we were right. Crap, time to punt.
